The scenario is from my rules of choice, Battlegroup. The Germans have sent a small force to attack the retreating BEF flank, unknown to them the Allies have wind of this and have scraped together "Bick Force" to counter this.
The BEF deploy a 2pdr anti-tank gun to engage the 38Ts, while infantry deploy into the town buildings.
no match for them two of the Vickers beat a hasty retreat, all but one who fails to receive the order and pays the price.
The other 38T stays to support the infantry advance and ultimately is knocked out by the 2pdr. Here with the game hotting up I neglected to take further photos.
The contest was hotly fought by both sides, it got to the stage where both sides were possibly one Battle Rating counter away from calling off the action. With the remaining Vickers tank making an heroic advance and taking out a German LMG team the Germans were forced into taking a chit. A three taking them one over their Battle Rating saw them call off the attack. A win for the BEF!
Until next time happy gaming and KBO
Great looking game Phil and exciting conclusion!
ReplyDeleteThank you Christopher, a close run thing indeed.
DeleteA splendid scenario produced a tense game which was so close until the Chits did for Phil's Germans!
ReplyDeleteA very gripping game, I must try and remember to take photos next time.
DeleteA tight game by the sounds of it. Recently on a podcast, the presenters were asked what period they thought would gain the most traction in 2026, they said ancients …. I think it will be 1940, there seem to be a lot of armies getting to the table and interest is high. As someone else said, there were less guaranteed knockouts of vehicles compared to later war, making games that bit more interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery close despite the BEF fielding there sardines tins, they did the job. 1940 is certainly a challenge.
DeleteSplendid Phil, good to see some early war kit on the table
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt. A lot more of it about recently.
DeleteA good result for the BEF, hopefully my own will get an outing soon.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your tuff in action again, another CoC campaign perhaps.
DeleteI enjoy seeing early war kit out on table and yours is no exception. Good BaRep and good win for the BEF.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Jonathan. It certainly makes a change from the monsters on the table later in the war, although the Matilda II is nothing to be sniffed at.
ReplyDeleteHurrah! For the BEF…
ReplyDeleteIt’s great to see the new toys on the table…
All the best. Aly
Thank you Aly. Hurrah indeed!
