The Soviets commanded by Dave held off the German advance, the campaign allows the Germans a second attempt with additional forces being bought up.
Will the Germans be successful this time? If this has piqued your interest read on..........
The Soviets are dug in across the line, two infantry platoons, a Maxim MG and three Zis3 field/AT guns. Reinforcements of three SU76 and a ISII will arrive in turn seven.
Lessons not learned the Germans begin their advance along the road, but speed is of the essence they will start to take Battle Rating counters every turn from turn seven if the Soviets are still holding their positions.
They immediately come under mortar fire on a pre-registered target point (should have seen that coming🙄) and start to get pinned down.
German reinforcements arrive the Stug 42 moves up to further reinforce the greadiers who have become bogged down in a firefight with the approaching Soviets.
Lack of orders and pinning has stalled the advance on the opposite flank too.
Finally the Tigers get going again only to come under fire from two Zis3s coupled with the mortar barrage the crew are rattled with the amount of metal hitting them the crew bail out and abandon their vehicles.
Turn six, with the Germans being down to less than a half of their battle rating and Soviet reinforcements arriving next the turn I called time as I could not see the Germans winning the scenario even if my dice rolling improved. So the campaign ends here, really challenging but great fun along the way.

Tough luck for the Germans in this campaign. Your entrenchments look fab.
ReplyDeleteLuck was certainly agin them that's for sure. The entrenchments are from Ironclad Miniatures and paint up a treat
DeleteAgree, the entrenchments are spot on.
ReplyDeleteThank you Norm, glad you approve of my paint treatment of them.
DeleteGood to see combined arms slow down a cat heavy advance. Nice entrenchments.
ReplyDeleteYep, peppering them with mortar rounds and copious armour piercing rounds certainly blunted their ardour even if they could not penetrate.
DeleteLovely looking game Phil…
ReplyDeleteThose big cats don’t really do subtlety do they…
All the best. Aly
Thank you Aly. Nope just lumber forward and crush the enemy, though not this day😂😂
DeleteAn intriguing game, for once I almost knew what I was doing. I was surprised to win, aided by you splendid dice throwing of course🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲Not to mention my heroic Soviet infantry in the woods!
ReplyDeleteYour plan certainly came together the less said about mine the better🙂
ReplyDeleteA last hurrah for the Panzerwaffe Phil, nice game.
ReplyDeleteThank you George. Adolf's boys are in a downward spiral.
