Dig In!

A little something for the upcoming defence of Rahnstadt.

The hull from an old Airfix kit is in there somewhere, honest. Milliput cobbles and sandbags.
 With the turret

    1. Thank you Iain, the Germans hope it will be a dangerous terrain feature too.

  4. Great stuff Phil, must use my old Airfix Tigers for the same idea.

    1. Thanks Matt. A Tiger was discovered out side Berlin post war with a damaged hull, without engine, gearbox, wheels or tracks and its hull partially filled with concrete. No photo but it would make different modelling project.

  5. Nice job Phil, don't think I would have liked to have been in there though.

    1. Thank you George. Yup a bit of sitting duck, if not deadly, one in Italy accounted for possibl five Churchills before being taken out by the HQ tank.

  6. Lovely, good to see some old school scratch building. It might be a static target but hull down like that should make it quite formidable. If the empty shell casings in the photograph are any indication it was much more than a one-shot wonder.

    1. Thank you Mark, I am hoping so, will have to make sure it gets some infantry support though.

  7. A lovely little... for want of a better world... fortification.

It looks like it was originally set up at a cross roads.... which would make sense.
I wonder how many were actually used...?

    All the best. Aly

    2. PS. 14 are in photos in the book and the location of another 4 are taken from memoirs in books.

    3. You could run an entire game around one of these ‘tanks’..
      Or more at different crossroads...

      All the best. Aly
